Diversity and Cultural Competence in Health Care Management--A
Skills Building Series
Diversity and Cultural Competence have become critical components
for the effective and profitable operation of healthcare facilities
and systems. This skills-building series focuses on the education,
training, and experiences healthcare providers must master—from
leadership to service personnel— in order to deliver high-quality
healthcare. The overall objective of the program is to create a culturally
competent organization—culturally competent employees operating
within a culturally inclusive environment.
Such an environment is characterized by:
- Quality patient care
- Exceptional workplace and business performance
- The mental, physical, and emotional well-being of employees
- Community outreach and participation
The series modules are:
- Diversity and Cultural Competence
- Cultural Competence in Healthcare Management
- Personal Discovery – Delivering Exceptional Patient Care
- Leading and Managing a Diverse Work Force
- Cross-Cultural Relationships
- Cross-Cultural Communication
- Creating an Inclusive, Culturally Competent Organization
In addition to these learning modules, the series includes an additional,
unique leadership seminar for administrators of healthcare facilities
and sytems.
The various components are designed in a modular format, so that
they involve multiples of two- hour presentations. This design allows
the various employees and caregivers the freedom to integrate the
learning skills in a way that extended absences from their responsiblities
are unnecessary. This design also has the added advantage of the “learn-and-apply” sequence
between each of the sessions.
